Should you buy Android tablets instead of iPads?

At its spring event today, Apple announced several new products, including several new iPad models. As Android fans, we’re more than a little jealous – our preferred ecosystem just doesn’t have the same capability as Apple. But that doesn’t mean we have no options at all. We really think the iPad is great, but if you want a bigger portable screen without having to learn the specifics of a new OS, here are some of the best options on our side of the wall.

Samsung Galaxy S7 + Tab

The Galaxy Tab S7 + is arguably the best Android tablet you can buy. It has an excellent 120Hz high-resolution AMOLED display, high performance thanks to the Snapdragon 865+ chip and six (or eight) gigabytes of RAM, and a stylus that magnetically attaches to the back for charging. You can even get an official magnetic keyboard case for it (though, frankly, it’s nowhere near as good as the ones Apple makes).

So what’s the catch? Aside from the constant problem with Android tablet apps, the S7 + is expensive, starting at $ 750 for the base model. However, that’s less than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Check out our full review for more information.

If you’re using a more casual look, consider the less feature-rich Galaxy Tab S7. Its screen is only 11 inches, up from 12.4 inches for the S7 +, and it’s an LCD instead of OLED. But it has the same processor and RAM, so the performance is comparable to its big brother. In return for sacrifices in display quality and usable floor space (although using both, I prefer a more compact screen), you save a significant chunk of the change: the base S7 is currently $ 550.

If you are using even more Incidentally, Samsung’s Tab A7 is a pretty meager little media machine. Its specs aren’t impressive – Snapdragon 662 and three gigabytes of RAM – but it absolutely gets the job done if all you’re trying to use it for is reading and casual gaming. It also has a beautiful 1200-pixel LCD display and surprisingly durable speakers. Its body is also made of aluminum, which is impressive for a tablet that can be purchased for $ 230. Fire Tablet HD 8

Last year’s Fire Tablet HD 8 is cheap for only 90 bucks. To be clear, it doesn’t compete directly with any tablet that Apple sells, but our review calls it “a good cheap Android tablet that Google won’t build. for super basic tasks like reading Twitter, you can save a significant amount of money by going for the budget option. It has a cheap MediaTek chip and only two gigabytes of RAM, but its 800p resolution is enough for eight inches.
